ALC Mission Statement

American Lutheran church is Christ-centered by emphasizing teaching, worship and prayer as we are grown in Christ’s image through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our Philosophy

Introduction // There is a God, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is this Triune God to whom we are introduced through Holy Scripture. By His power alone, and within His perfect will, He reveals Himself that all who receive the Triune God might have eternal life. Induction: Baptism Through God’s perfect timing, the one introduced is inducted into the faith. This induction, called baptism and paves the way for those who believe in His name, who “are born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12, 13) This is God’s doing, not any man’s lest any man boast. Not by might, nor by reason, but by the will of God alone do we receive faith. Instruction // Making Disciples The purpose of every Bible study, course of instruction, program, class, or imparting of knowledge is for the sole purpose of preparing the one inducted into the faith to be and become a disciple of the author and finisher of faith, Jesus Christ. This includes preaching, the most prevalent form of instruction for the building up of the saints, but may come in many ways as the Lord directs the individual believer. In-vocation // Obeying God’s Word Vocation is from the Latin word vocare, which means ‘call’. Every person has a vocation. Whether it is the student, the child, the mother, father, factory worker, doctor, lawyer, or whatever, each person is called in that which we call a vocation. The journey of faith passes through induction into instruction for the purpose of putting into motion faith as the action of life. The ‘call’ has one of two avenues that is lived out. The first is a call of Word and Service – this is where most faithful live out their call. The second is the call of Word and Sacrament – this is the call of the ordained ministry. Living a life of faith is following the Lord’s command to the letter. He told us to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” (Matthew 28:20, 21) Induction, instruction and invocation are our way of spelling out what this means at American Lutheran Church. We are called to die to self, sin and the devil, in order that we may be resurrected as children of God. In the complexity of life, the process is simply introduced. Romans 6 tells us that we were baptized into Christ’s death in order that we might experience His resurrection. Join us in the eternal adventure called faith!
